Abadía Retuerta is much more than a winery. Located in the Ribera del Duero wine region of Spain, this historic complex offers a unique setting for corporate events, combining history, wine culture and natural beauty.

Abadía Retuerta's origins date back to the 12th century, when it was founded as a Cistercian monastery.

Over the centuries, the complex has gone through various stages, from its religious function to its transformation into a prestigious winery producing high quality wines, under the management of an important Swiss pharmaceutical group, which has turned it into an emblem of exclusivity and good workmanship.

This historical transition brings a rich cultural depth to the site, fusing the monastic legacy with a contemporary passion for wine.

Field of experimentation in the vineyard

As a winery, Abadía Retuerta is internationally renowned for the excellence of its wines. The estate has vineyards that extend over more than 200 hectares, where varieties such as Tempranillo, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah, among others, are grown.

The team continues to experiment with different varieties, something it is able to do because, contrary to what many believe, Abadía Retuerta is not included in the Ribera del Duero Designation of Origin, as the municipality to which it belongs, Sardón de Duero, with its cereal-growing tradition, never wanted to join. This gives it a certain independence in the production and experimentation of its wines, with a wide variety of soils and a continental climate that favours the perfect ripening of the grapes.

The estate, a visit to which is a real experience in itself, is also home to a forest with a wide variety of plant and animal life.

A benchmark for MICE
In any case, in addition to its reputation for wine, in recent years Abadía Retuerta has become a benchmark destination for exclusive business events. Its facilities combine the medieval architecture of the restored monastery with modern comforts, offering versatile spaces for meetings, conferences, presentations and gala dinners.

The hotel has 30 rooms and suites, all with views of the vineyards and equipped with state-of-the-art technology.

The Abbey's sacristy is a wonderful option for private meetings or exclusive wine tastings and the 12th century church itself can be adapted for larger events, with a capacity of 180 people.

In addition, the SPA area, which has been rightly christened the Sanctuary, is another of its great attractions. It is in itself another spectacle of harmony and has been worked with attention to detail, with a nod to the culture of wine, through the so-called Spa Sommelier, which offers a marriage between wine, oil blends and massage techniques.

A unique gastronomic offer

The offer is complemented by an exceptional gastronomy, highlighting the gourmet pairings that celebrate the culture of wine and local cuisine, working in a very original and exquisite way with traditional products such as lamb or vegetables from the region. The options are:

Refectorio: Refectorio: Restaurant with a Michelin star, offering innovative local cuisine.

Vinoteca: Vinoteca: Market and garden cuisine, with quality local produce.

Calicata Terroir Bar: Offers local cuisine and signature cocktails.

The unique atmosphere of the place, surrounded by vineyards, provides an inspiring environment that encourages creativity and networking for any group. Meetings of all kinds can be organised at the Abbey itself.
Visitors have the opportunity to participate in a tour and tasting of undoubted value, discovering the secrets of its prized wines.

Abadía Retuerta represents a balance between history, winemaking tradition, sustainability and modern business, an enriching experience that celebrates the passion for wine and Castilian culture at its best.
